Essential elements of this leadership role include: internal and external communications; brand management; oversight of the school’s online and digital presence; shaping and implementing strategies in collaboration with the Admissions and Development offices; development of the school’s publications and collateral materials; media relations; crisis communication and other special projects as needed.The Director of Marketing and Communications serves as a member of Urban’s senior administrative team and reports directly to the Head of School.Successful candidates for the Director of Marketing and Communications will likely have the following:Alignment with Urban’s mission and core values and a desire to work in a high schoolSignificant marketing experience ideally in, but not limited to, non-profit settingsExceptionally strong writing, editorial and proofreading skillsStrong technical and digital skills and proficiency with office and design softwareOutstanding listening and collaborating skills and interpersonal acuityProficiency with current social media platformsExperience with website development, design, and functionStrong project management skills and the ability to run concurrent projectsDegree(s) in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related fieldWORKING CONDITIONSClimate controlled office environment; one remote day a week allowable.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEquipment Used: Computer/Laptop, phone, copy machine, scanner, mobile phoneSitting continuously over 5 hours per day occasional lifting, reaching, bending, standing, squatting, kneelingAbility to lift and carry up to 35 poundsSALARY AND BENEFITSThe anticipated salary range the School reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Director of Marketing and Communications in San Francisco is $165,000 - $172,500 annually.Urban provides all full-time and part-time employees working more than 20 hours per week or teaching 4 or more classes a generous benefits package including employer-paid medical and dental coverage.
