Position Description
Media Production Specialist II
Emergency Hire - Temporary position lasting at most 90 days with an option of being extended to 180 days.
Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Football Operations (DFO) and Head Football Coach, the Video Coordinator oversees all film and production aspects of the football program. Responsibilities include filming games and practices, acquiring and editing opponent footage, and producing instructional and creative video content to support both offensive and defensive units. The Video Coordinator is responsible for maintaining film equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing solutions. A deep understanding of football strategy is essential, as the role involves analyzing game trends and providing tactical recommendations to counter opponents’ schemes.
FLSA: Exempt
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,832- $8,759 per month
Hiring Range/Rate: $28.65 per hour
Salary Grade/Range: 2
Time Base: Hourly-Intermittent/Daily Rate
Work Hours: Varies based on operational needs.
Department Information
The program of Intercollegiate Athletics is organized and conducted as an integral part of the total educational program of the University. Academic excellence and athletic accomplishments go hand in hand at Sacramento State. There are three separate and unique missions in this program: to contribute to the educational objectives of the University; to provide a healthy, competitive athletic experience to individual student-athletes; to serve as a public relations vehicle within the community.
Minimum Qualifications
Entry to the first level within this classification requires a basic knowledge of and skill in graphics, still or motion photography, or television production. This knowledge and skill normally is obtained through a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least six months of experience in still and motion picture photography, including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Two years of experience in film analysis and video production, preferably in a football or sports-related setting.
- Proficiency with DVSport Video Editing Software or similar platforms.
- Experience with a full range of media production techniques, including digital networks, sound recording, video recording, photography, lighting, editing methods, and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of video production techniques, graphics, and multimedia content creation.
- Ability to analyze trends, evaluate film, and provide data-driven insights for coaching staff.
- Proficiency in video editing software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects, on both Mac and PC platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of photography principles, including lighting, color, and composition.
- Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of production equipment, including multi-camera video productions and studio gear.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a solid foundation in English grammar.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and student-athletes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Commitment to adhering to NCAA, conference, and athletic department rules and regulations.
- Ability to support the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, integrity, and professionalism.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and travel with the team as needed.
