The Director of Development & Communications secures financial support for the organization by overseeing and implementing a comprehensive program which includes donor relations, solicitation of major gifts, alumni relations, foundation proposals, and capital campaigns. This position focuses on setting and achieving fundraising goals, cultivating relationships with all internal and external constituents, while being an active participant in planning and implementing all development events, social media presence, and assisting in the marketing of the School. The ideal candidate will build lasting relationships with donors and keep them informed on how their financial input is making the organization and the city of Dallas a better place. Job Duties: Collaboration with administration and Board Development Committee to understand fundraising priorities, and to develop messaging and overall strategies to achieve stated goals. Solicitation of annual giving, sponsorships, grants, and working with Board members and Head of School toward solicitation of major gifts. Planning and implementation of communications and events. Establish and maintain a reasonable budget for institutional development efforts. Coordination of alumni communication and events. Oversight of collection, organization, and maintenance of development data. Providing as requested, to the administration and Board, regular progress reports. Working closely with Director of Admissions to promote CSD. Assisting in the coordination of volunteer help with school events. Minimum Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Non-Profit Management, Communications, or a related field. Previous Related Experience:
4+ years in business development or fundraising, Blackbaud Systems experience preferred, but not required. Expectations/Requirements for Successful Performance: Detail-Oriented with strong time-management skills. Ability to multi-task. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft products, financial reporting systems, social media platforms, and mass-marketing tools. Strong work ethic with a self-starting mentality. Compliance with all job requirements and conduct as stated in the Faculty/Staff Handbook. Agreement with the CSD Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision. This is a full-time, exempt position requiring some work on evenings and weekends, particularly for after-hour events. Working predominately at a desk and computer with frequent off-site meetings.
