Job Description
SCOPE OF WORK: Manages and oversees library and academic support services and programs related to the Library and Learning Commons, with responsibility for coordinating and planning a collaborative resource center for academic inquiry, instruction, and learning to support faculty and students in the classroom and online. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Lakes Region Community College. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Directs all aspects of the library operations including supervising, scheduling, training and evaluating employees; overseeing library services and processes, and coordinating programming, and supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of professional and peer tutors and academic support staff. Performs various library functions.
Provides instructional and research assistance to students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and individuals outside the college community.
Manage academic support services including math placement, tutoring, providing academic resources, English Language Learners support and academic support programming to develop academic skills to achieve academic success.
Collaborates with faculty to promote information literacy to classes in all modalities.
Maintains and enhances the library and learning commons website to reach online and in-person students and convey appropriate support effectively.
Develops and maintains collection, from purchase to processing, of curriculum related materials, organization of materials for maximum utilization and deletion of materials from the collection on a regular basis.
Maintains the library budget, statistical documents and reports; gathers statistical data regarding library usage and compares data to previous years to determine how to apply positive change; compiles data and prepares reports for management, as needed.
Assists in incorporating Open Educational Resources (OER) into courses to promote affordable and high-quality learning materials.
Collaborates with other libraries and resource institutions within the system, state and networks.
Plans and implements humanities programming in collaboration with the Laconia Public Library, including writing grants for programs as needed.
Attends Student Success Center staff meetings, at-risk meetings, orientations and other college events.
Serves on college and faculty committees.
Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in Library Science.
Experience: Five years’ professional experience as a librarian, library manager or director with experience in a modern library organization including supervisory or program management experience.
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of modern library organization, procedures, policies, resources and services. Knowledge of academic support services and programs. Knowledge of up-to-date applications of information technology. Skill in developing and monitoring library automation and library information systems. Ability to coordinate workflow within the library, and to train and supervise library staff. Proficient use of technology. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to exercise professional judgment and to handle sensitive matters with diplomacy. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
