Job Summary
This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package.
We're looking for a creative and detail-oriented Social Media and Marketing Coordinator to support our team in sharing our mission and engaging our community. In this role, you'll help manage our social media accounts, create compelling content, and assist with digital marketing efforts. You'll play a key role in amplifying our impact through storytelling, visuals, and strategic communication.
This is a part-time position (8-10 hours/week) ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a passion for community engagement, and an interest in social impact work. You'll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing while contributing to meaningful change. You will be supervised by and collaborate closely with the Executive Director and report on campus to the Program Manager for Community Partnerships.
Location : 225 NE 80th Ave, Portland, OR 97213 (10%) and remote (90%).
Note:
Student may not earn more than $2,000 total in this position, which equates to 118 hours worked between Fall and Spring semester.
Core Duties Create and schedule engaging social media posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook) Support content creation including graphics, short videos, and written captions (using pre-captured footage) Formulate a digital media and marketing strategy to present to the Executive Director Track and report basic social media metrics and engagement Support in the creative process for large scale marketing initiatives such as our fall campaign Collaborate with team members to highlight stories from programs, volunteers, and families. Minimum Qualifications
Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package (contact finaid@up.edu with questions) Is majoring or minoring in marketing Has maintained a minimum of a 3.0 GPA Preferred Qualifications
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills Familiarity with social media platforms and content scheduling tools Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva or similar tools) Organized, dependable, and able to work independently Interest in youth development or community-based work is a plus Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
