Responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with officials and agencies; maintains liaison with the media.Develop and implement comprehensive media and public relations strategies for county elected officials.Develops and implements the marketing plan for a publication, regardless of media; develops budget for publication; evaluates sales and promotional programs; prepares contracts.Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.Serve as the primary spokesperson for county elected officials, effectively communicating their priorities and initiatives to the public.Draft and edit press releases, speeches, talking points, and other communications materials.Organize and coordinate press conferences, interviews, and media events.Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing timely analysis and recommendations.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and communication across all channels.Manage crisis communications and respond promptly to media inquiries.Stay informed about relevant local and national issues to anticipate potential communication challenges.Utilize social media platforms to enhance the county's online presence and engagement.Plan and coordinate media events.Qualifications:
Required:
Demonstrated expertise in media relations, public relations, or similar roles.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage with staff, management, and community stakeholders at all levels.Robust supervisory and leadership capabilities.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Competence in working under pressure and managing crisis situations calmly.Proven strategic thinking and effective plan execution.Proficiency in social media management and digital communications.Preferred:
Master's degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.Juris Doctor.Familiarity or experience with local government operations and policies.Pay and Benefits:
