Description:
The Logan Library is seeking a new employee to help us spark creation, exploration, and collaboration in our community.
Under general supervision, the Library Page's primary responsibilities will be shelving library materials and checking in returned items.
The employee will work 20 hours per week (on average), including weekday and weekend shifts.

Qualifications:
- a high school diploma or equivalent;
- able to reach, push, pull, sit, squat and move repetitively (with or without a library cart), and also to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to:
Shelving: welcome patrons to the library; organize shelving carts; shelve materials in a timely and efficient manner; assist patrons in locating materials.
Check-in: empty the book drop on a regular basis; check in items from the book drops; sort items onto shelving carts; scan shelving carts using the library wand.
General: provide excellent customer service; prioritize patron privacy; work on assigned tasks and special projects as directed by your supervising Librarian or administration; understand and follow complex written and verbal procedures and guidelines; enforce board policies; attend staff meetings and trainings; help with the general upkeep of the library building; stop and report any dangerous or unethical behavior; exemplify the mission and pillars of the Logan Library; uphold the behavior standards listed in the Staff Code of Conduct; represent the library and Logan City in a professional manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates for this position should have:
- a desire to serve our community;
- a willingness to learn, help, and share;
- excellent customer service skills;
- an attention to detail;
- at least a basic understanding of the organization of library collections and of shelving practices (alphabetizing and placing materials in numerical order);
- the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public, including in high-stress situations;
- the skills to understand complex written and verbal instructions and guidelines in English;
- practice successfully using common technologies (e.g. computers, tablets, printers, the Internet, email, word processing, mobile phone apps).
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- experience working in a library, especially checking-in, organizing, and shelving library materials;
- a knowledge of the Logan Library and the organization of its collections, including the Dewey Decimal Classification system
- fluency in the Spanish language.
