Job Summary: Express Employment seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator and Designer to join our team specializing in residential remodeling and new construction projects. This dual role requires a professional with a strong understanding of construction processes, cost estimation, and design principles. The ideal candidate will be able to assess project costs, provide accurate estimates, and collaborate closely with clients, architects, and contractors to create aesthetically pleasing and functional designs that align with budget and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Estimator Duties: Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for residential remodeling and new construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents. Budget Management: Develop detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and other construction costs to ensure the project stays within budget. Material and Labor Sourcing: Source and identify suppliers and subcontractors, obtaining quotes and bids to finalize project costs. Project Timelines: Develop detailed project timelines and provide input on scheduling to ensure that projects are completed on time. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost-saving without compromising the quality or integrity of the project. Client Communication: Provide clients with clear and detailed cost estimates and updates throughout the planning and execution stages of the project. Change Orders: Process change orders and adjustments to estimates based on project scope changes or client requests. Designer Duties: Concept Development: Work with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and needs to develop design concepts for remodeling and new construction projects. CAD Design: Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit) to create detailed and accurate architectural drawings and 3D visualizations. Design Presentation: Present design proposals to clients, ensuring that they align with budget, functional needs, and aesthetic preferences. Code Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Material Selection: Advise clients on material selections (e.g., flooring, cabinetry, fixtures) to complement the design while staying within budget. Collaboration with Contractors: Work closely with construction teams, architects, and engineers to ensure that designs are feasible and cost-effective. Site Visits: Attend project sites to assess space, review design concepts, and ensure designs are implemented correctly. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field (preferred). Experience: 3+ years of experience in residential remodeling, new construction, or a related field. Proven experience in cost estimation, design drafting, and project management. Skills: Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar). Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and local regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients, contractors, and design teams. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously. Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity in design. Certifications (Preferred): Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) LEED Accreditation (for sustainable design) NCIDQ certification (for Interior Design) Physical Demands: Ability to perform site visits and inspections, including lifting moderate-heavy weights (up to 50 lbs).
