The Evening Polysomnographic Trainee/Technician is directly responsible and accountable to the Sleep Medicine Manager and will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) for performing standard and complex Polysomnographic testing according to laboratory standards and practices. The Polysomnographic Technician will also be responsible for regular communication with the Sleep Disorders Center lead technologist. Polysomnographic Technologist is directly responsible and accountable to the Sleep Medicine Manager and will work under the general supervision of Sleep Medicine Manager and Medical Director.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) preferred. Continuing educations credits must be kept up to maintain the credential. • Successful completion of an accredited educational program and holds a healthcare license. Respiratory Therapists preferred. Will require 6 months of on the job training to be eligible to sit for RPSGT exam. OR • Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology. OR • Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technician.
