As part of the McCombs School of Business Chief Marketing Communications Officer (CMCO) team, this position supports the internal team as well as the greater McCombs community. The graphic designer at Texas McCombs will work collaboratively with the members of the CMCO team to ensure the core brand is represented properly and to plan a strong visual strategy. The ideal candidate will be able to develop concepts and design creative brand-compliant materials and templates for print and digital collateral, and able to work within existing brand guidelines. Areas of work may include but not be limited to: brochures, ads, presentations, flyers, editorial assets, stand-alone graphics, promotional displays, signage, info-graphics, social media, web assets, and promotional items. Must possess a strong sense of concept development, technical skills and up-to-date knowledge of industry software and design trends. Graphic designer consults with immediate supervisor to determine the most appropriate method for preparing work to meet production deadlines and may consult with clients on project needs and adjustments. Responsibilities
Design: Maintain the school's visual identity. Work with partners in our community to develop marketing materials and to resolve design challenges. The ability to develop concepts and design creative brand-compliant materials for print and digital collateral. This process will include exploring various concepts at the project's outset before finalizing the design aesthetic for the print and digital outputs Utilize our current visual identity system, design a wide range of templates for print and digital collateral in Canva and Adobe for use by McCombs community. Create custom graphics and illustrations. Manage printing and other production processes, e.g., request quotes, produce print-ready files aligned with specifications, complete press checks and coordinate delivery. Collaborate with the digital team to design engaging web experiences. Assist in maintaining brand guidelines and other design-related documentation. Asset Management: Work with internal team to manage the photo archive, effectively sorting and tagging images. Develop and maintain design and photo editing templates for use by design vendors and non-designers. Project Management: Track the development of simultaneous projects for communications and development teams using Asana. Communicate status updates regularly and share any perceived challenges around deadlines. Consult with immediate supervisor to determine the most appropriate method for preparing work to meet production deadlines and may consult with clients on project needs and adjustments.
Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Degree in graphic design, art, or a related field.
At least 1 year of professional experience in graphics design.
Proven experience as a graphic designer with a sharp attention to detail, with a portfolio showcasing a range of design work (e.g., brochures, logos, advertisements, web design, and promotional materials).
Must be able to create and implement innovative design concepts that align with brand standards for both print and digital media.
Ability to comprehend the project requirements, pose relevant questions, and effectively seek out the information needed to successfully complete the project.
Proficiency with industry-standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD), and other relevant design tools, with up-to-date knowledge of industry trends.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, creative work while maintaining the highest standards of quality and creativity.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently, with excellent work habits, and be a strong team player with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Up-to-date knowledge of industry and design trends.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with content management systems (CMS), project management software, and related tools.
Experience consulting with clients on design needs, providing professional guidance, and adjusting as required.
Familiarity with working in a university or educational setting, understanding the importance of aligning designs with institutional branding and communication strategies
Salary Range
$50,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions
Work is performed in a standard office environment and includes use of a keyboard at a workstation. May require occasional extended work hours. This position is eligible for remote work.
