Position Summary The Department of Emergency Medicine, Innovative Practice maintains a 24/7/365 telemedicine and communications center. The purpose of this center is to coordinate and document care via telemedicine and facilitate the concierge and event medicine practice. Most calls are inbound from ships, aircraft, and remote sites/bases around the globe. In addition, the communications center serves as a single point of contact for our event and concierge medical practices.We are currently seeking an Operations Specialist-EMT for all shifts. Night shift receives a differential on top of advertised pay band. The primary purpose of this position is to staff the communications center, however, this position can also be used to staff events for medical standby coverage.As an Operations Specialist-EMT you will need to:Facilitate telemedical interactions between patients/clients and medical providersDocument and accurately scribe medical communicationsFollow up with patients/clients as neededWork toward solutions to client issues in a timely and appropriate mannerPrioritize job duties while utilizing excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.Be a nationally certified EMT with current CPR for healthcare providers (AHA, ASHE)Be deft at computers and typingPerforms intake of initial demographic dataBe confident in their medical terminologyWork within standard operating procedures and follow defined algorithmsBelieve in customer serviceMust have excellent verbal and written communication skillsCooperates and communicates well with othersAssist in program maintenance activitiesDemonstrate good judgment and good critical thinking skillsOther duties as assignedComplexity and JudgmentWork consists of a number of complex and diversified duties. The Operations Specialist-EMT makes decisions while following standard policy/procedures. A supervisor is consulted in unusual situations and/or where there is an exception to policy and standard procedure. The Communications Specialist/EMT will have contact/interaction with personnel in other departments, personnel in other departments and individuals and groups from outside the MFA.Minimum QualificationsEducationA high school diploma or an equivalent combination of training and experience.LicensureCurrent and valid BLS, NREMT and AHA/ASHE CPR certification ExperienceA minimum of 1 year of experience in an emergency response position such as an EMT-B or a communications centerStrong working knowledge of basic computer systems, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.Physical RequirementsSit or stand for extended periods of time in office and field settings.Bend, stoop, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces.Must be able to move 100 pounds to a height of 4 feet and carry 100 pounds a minimum of 6 feet.Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.About GW MFAMFA physicians provide comprehensive patient care, offering one practice for the whole person with 52 medical and surgical specialties.
