THE JOB:
MGM Resorts International is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Scenic Project Artist to help design and create visually compelling sets and environments for various productions and events. You will be responsible for producing props, sets, vignettes, signs and room decor using various materials such as wood, metal, foam, paint, vinyl, fabric and more. This candidate will work with various MGM events teams to help create elaborate sets and custom decorations.
THE STARTING RATE: $21.00/hour
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Use appropriate techniques and tools to paint, cut, sew, glue and assemble props to produce well developed, safe, quality decor.
- Properly pack needed items for transport, unpack and check goods against orders and handle inventory to protect against damage.
- Ensure that tools are maintained and areas used are left in a clean and orderly condition.
- Stay current in design trends, production techniques and vendor products and share/train with teams to inspire creativity.
- Lead crews in-studio or on installation and tear downs on selected events.
- Participate in event installation/tear down and loading/unloading of vehicles as needed.
- Create a positive work environment promoting creativity, collaboration, teamwork, recognition.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 1+ years of prior relevant experience in set and prop construction, theatre, fabric, and/or events design.
- Prior experience producing large sets/props, sculptures, or museum displays.
- Experience with artistic wood working, carpentry, CNC machining, or electrical design is highly preferred.
