With a focus on underserved markets, Breakaway is bringing a premium 2-day EDM/Pop festival experience with an always-changing lineup of top artists to where consumers live, work, and play.
THE ROLE
Breakaway is in search of an experienced PR Manager to support all corporate communications and media relations on behalf of the brand, across both Live and Label verticals. This role will work cross-departmentally driving publicity and supporting the development of Breakaway’s communication strategy behind corporate, live, label, and brand partnership functions. As a key player in shaping the public image of our artists, events, executives, and brand, you will develop and manage PR campaigns, foster media relationships, attain press opportunities, and ensure consistent messaging that amplifies our presence in the music industry.
The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, a skilled communicator, and a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the music industry and its unique media landscape. This individual will combine a passion for music culture with their strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of publicity needs to elevate our brand, executives, and artists. Our team seeks a strategic manager who thrives in high-energy environments, collaborates seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, acts proactively, and has a deep network of relative industry contacts.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Support the develop and oversee comprehensive national and regional PR strategies and media campaigns for events, artists, executives, and brand initiatives across digital, social, print, podcasts, radio, in-person, and TV outlets
Craft compelling press releases, media kits, and promotional content that aligns with organizational goals
Support crisis communication planning and execution to safeguard brand reputation
Collaborate with internal Breakaway team to define positioning, purpose, and vision for both live and label business units (inclusive of Breakaway-signed artists)
In partnership with the marketing team, develop, organize, and circulate key artist and executive publicity assets (ex: photos, bios, press releases, etc.)
Build and maintain strong relationships with music journalists, editors, venues, and media outlets to secure high-profile event, artist, and executive media coverage, interviews, editorial placements and speaking opportunities
Collaborate with internal marketing and media teams to promote events, artist signings, and brand campaigns
Coordinate and cover press events and appearances as requested, including photo shoots, release parties, television appearances, showcases, award shows, red carpets, etc. to maximize brand media exposure
In partnership with internal teams, manage and organize marketing assets, including lyrics, DSP assets, and social banners for label side of business
Coordinate artist press tours and promotional schedules
Monitor the performance of PR campaigns using tools like media monitoring software and analytics platforms, ultimately communicating key initiatives, results, and updates to executive team
Compile detailed reports highlighting campaign impact, media coverage, and ROI
Partner with social media team to ensure cohesive messaging across digital channels
Stay informed about music industry trends, emerging platforms, and competitor activity to inform PR strategies
Monitor online conversations and respond to media inquiries promptly
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in public relations or communications, ideally in the music or entertainment industry
Exceptional communication, writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Strong relationships with music industry media and local press
Proficiency in media monitoring tools (ex: Meltwater, Muck Rack, etc.) and analytics platforms
Knowledge of digital marketing, social media trends, and audience engagement strategies
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Adaptability – adapts to change in the work environment, manages competing demands and
handle frequent changes
Dependability – consistently at work when expected, follows instructions, responds to manager’s
instructions
Strong computer skills – including all Microsoft Office software programs and high proficiency
with Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays
