Meteorologist , youll primarily focus on weather forecasting. By providing easy-to-understand weather updates, youll help our audience stay safe and informed. Youll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms. WHAT OUR METEOROLOGISTS ENJOY MOST Combining data and science with the power of storytelling Providing our audiences with high-quality, informative, easy-to-understand weather forecasts Creatively telling weather stories across platforms including TV, connected television, and digital As a part of Spectrum News, youre creative, highly technical, and ready to bring your communitys stories to life in our newsroom. You value accuracy and want to leverage your curiosity and storytelling abilities to share inspiring news across multiple platforms. Each day is fast-paced in a constantly evolving work environment with new stories to tell and perspectives to uncover. If youre a nimble, passionate team player, youll find a home on our team. WHAT YOULL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS Required Qualifications Experience : Experience forecasting and presenting weathercasts - 2+ years, working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems Education : Bachelors degree in Meteorology or a Bachelor's degree plus a Certificate in Meteorology Technical Skills : Knowledge of synoptic meteorology, tropical and radar Skills : Ability to anticipate situations, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities Abilities : Demonstrate enthusiasm in dealing with breaking news Travel Ability : Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community Schedule : Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies. Willing and able to work weekends and holidays Preferred Qualifications National Weather Association (NWA) and/or the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems May be required to lift up to five pounds Working Conditions Works inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year, however will be assigned to field duties as necessary Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment Communicates in person, by phone, and by email Materials and equipment used: various studio, weather forecasting, and newsgathering television equipment, computers, and computer-related equipment SPECTRUM NEWS CONNECTS YOU TO MORE Community Impact : You will play an important role in connecting people to and informing them about their local communities Supportive Teams : Be part of a strong community that gives you opportunities to network and grow and wants to see you succeed Dynamic Growth : The growth of our industry and evolving technology powers our employees careers as they move up or around the company Total Rewards : See all the ways we invest in youat work and in life Apply now, connect a friend to this opportunity or
