Woodson Complex Description Detects pest infestations in schools, centers, administrative building, or shops; treats structures, buildings, and grounds to prevent or exterminate insects and rodents. Qualifications Required Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate. One (1) year of experience in commercial pest control and extermination. Possession of a valid 7A (General Pest Certification) and 7B (Wood destroying Pest Certification) from the state of Virginia. Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record. May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status. Knowledge of the prevention, elimination, and control of household pests and pests that are harmful to building structures, stored materials, and vegetation. Knowledge of the habits, physical characteristics, hiding areas, and food sources of a wide variety of pests. Knowledge of insecticides and their toxicity. Knowledge of the common hazards and necessary safety precautions. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Skill in recognizing conditions conducive to pest infestation, detecting concealed infestations, and selecting equipment, materials, and methods for specific conditions and results desired. Ability to perform the work from planning to completion stages and provide complete coverage without danger to people and domestic or laboratory animals. Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals. Ability to estimate time and material needs, determine when the repair is not economically practical, and perform routine clerical tasks and arithmetical computations. Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program.
