Development Counsellors International (DCI) is looking for a Public Relations Account Executive (AE) to join our economic development PR team. Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze daily news (local and national) for 4-5 clients, identifying media opportunities.
- Develop and pitch story ideas to teammates based on current news.
- Assisting senior publicists in developing strong, targeted reporter lists for pitching.
- Track and report media coverage with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrating critical thinking by suggesting next steps in pitch development or projects.
- Cultivate relationships with reporters to secure coverage.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of PR and media relations experience required
- Passion for reading, watching, and/or listening to the news daily
- Experience working with reporters and building meaningful relationships
- Strong, creative, AP-style writing skills with the ability to identify a story angle
- Proven project management skills including organization, initiative, multitasking, and delegation under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with teammates, clients, and reporters
- BA or BS (in Public Relations, Communications, Economics, Business preferred
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have all necessary approvals to live/work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of agency experience
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Muck Rack, Wrike, or similar platforms; or takes initiative to learn a new program quickly
- Familiarity with Wrike or a similar project management system
This is a hybrid role that requires you to work in our Denver office 2 days a week.
