Job Summary:
Disney Publishing Worldwide seeks a highly creative and detail-oriented Senior Editor to oversee all National Geographic and National Geographic Kids content for global licensing. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal teams including global commercial teams, the APAC creative team, TWDC licensees globally, Nat Geo Channel, and Nat Geo Society to ensure that up-to-date information on content is disseminated and that teams have access to relevant assets and resources. This position requires some flexibility in working hours. APAC is a strategic area of growth, and consequently, there are periodic meetings which take place outside of traditional working hours. The Senior Editor will report to the Director, Associate Publisher, APAC. This is a Full-Time role.
What You Will Do:
- Responsible for the creation, project management, and delivery of licensable content for a global audience via Art Pools and Toolkits (6-10 pools per year). Align with internal teams to facilitate the end-to-end process.
- Responsible for approving and routing all licensee submissions to Design and Photo.
- Act as “Editorial Approver” for Global Pub Plans.
- Act as liaison between Licensing, Editorial, Content Packaging, and Consumer Products to align art pools and select vertical titles with key franchise opportunities.
- Responsible for putting together biannual Disney Content & Creative Catalogs, plus additional catalogs and presentations based on business needs.
- Submit select titles (Art Pools & Vertical) through Disney’s quarterly Global Solicitation Process to assess international licensing revenue estimates for future titles across National Geographic and National Geographic Kids.
- Draft, edit, and send monthly newsletter with updates and final files to TWDC Licensees and internal staff.
- Assess rights clearance for archival properties, vertical titles, licensee pick-up, and pools.
- Ensure Resources are updated (File Fees, Toolkits, etc.) and licensees have access to portals.
- Establish video request process between TWDC licensees and National Geographic channel.
- Work with the archiving team to ensure migration of audio and e-book files are available on our systems.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum ten years experience in publishing with a background in licensing, global markets, or pub planning.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Nat Geo franchise preferred.
- Knowledge of Nat Geo photo rights, their usage, and licensing is a plus.
- Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities along with careful attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with current marketplace and publishing trends.
- Familiarity with such office software as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe.
- Experience in creating and managing digital content such as apps, e-books, and enhanced e-books a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Science or equivalent preferred.
This position can be based in California or Washington D.C.
