The Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications will develop and execute the company's corporate communications strategy, with a strong focus on external communications, investor relations, and internal communications. This position will be responsible for developing and delivering key messages across various channels, supporting the creation of content for investor relations and corporate presentations, and ensuring alignment between all communications teams across the organization. The Director will play a pivotal role in maintaining the company's public image, ensuring the company's website is current, and proactively managing corporate messaging across internal and external stakeholders.
This person will play a leadership role in developing and executing the IR strategic program and engaging with the investment community, serving as a key company contact. This person will also act as a trusted internal adviser to the executive team and the Board, sharing perspectives and feedback on investor feedback and sentiment
This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities Investor Relations:
Design and implement a strategic IR program that enhances understanding of and confidence in Ironwood's vision, mission and strategy among members of the investment community;
Develop a thorough understanding of Ironwood's business and strategy to effectively
communicate the company's execution in a clear and compelling manner;
Build and strengthen relationships with the investment community;
Provide analytics and tracking - including the quarterly stock activity report, research
analysts' valuations and financial models, investor perceptions, among other market
intelligence - to help facilitate enhanced engagement with investment community;
Implement strategic investor and analyst targeting program directed at helping the company
to maximize long-term value;
Lead development of materials for quarterly and annual earnings results, including press
release, conference call scripts, slides, key messages and Q&A;
Lead development of certain IR-specific press releases (in collaboration with Corporate
Communications), PowerPoint presentations and other investor communications
Corporate Communications:
Corporate Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that aligns with the company's vision, values, and business goals. Manage both internal and external communications, ensuring consistency and clarity across all channels.
Content Creation: Write and produce high-quality content for various corporate materials, including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, annual reports, and executive communications. Ensure messaging aligns with the company's corporate narrative and business objectives.
Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to secure media coverage and promote the company's achievements. Respond to media inquiries and ensure timely and accurate responses. Crisis Communication and Reputation Management: Support the development of crisis communication plans and manage media inquiries in the event of any negative publicity. Monitor and manage the company's reputation in both traditional and social media.
Website Management and Content Development: Oversee the company's website, ensuring it is up to date with the latest company developments, research updates, clinical trials, investor relations content, and other corporate information. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create fresh, engaging content that represents the company's innovations and achievements.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate the creation of a unified communication calendar to align efforts, key dates, and messages across departments.
Internal Communications: Develop and implement effective internal communications strategies to keep employees informed and engaged with company developments, milestones, and leadership updates. Foster a positive internal culture through transparent and consistent communication.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10+ years of work experience in investor relations and corporate communications within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries.
Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred but not required.
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry trends, clinical development processes, and investor relations practices.
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans, including writing, editing, and creating content for a variety of formats.
Experience in managing corporate websites and digital content, with a focus on maintaining up-to-date, engaging content.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance guidelines related to corporate and investor communications in the pharmaceutical industry.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting clear, concise, and persuasive messages.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
Experience working with executives and preparing presentations and materials for external and internal audiences.
High degree of professionalism and confidentiality, with an ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
Ability to think strategically and proactively manage communications needs across the organization.
Travel requirement up to 20%

Ironwood currently anticipates that the initial base salary for this position could range from between $202,000 to $236,040. The actual base salary will depend, in part, on the successful candidate's qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Ironwood offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits program to eligible employees, including Restricted Stock Unit awards; eligibility to participate in either a bonus or sales incentive program; company-sponsored 401(k) with matching contributions; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; wellness stipends; and a generous vacation/holiday schedule.
