- Research various types of grants available (Federal, State, local, philanthropic, and other private groups) and the criteria to qualify for each grant that fit the Rescue Mission's vision and values, as well as funding needs. Creates Grant Briefs for Grants Management Meetings.
- Is the lead staff person preparing and running standing Grants Management Meetings and contributes to strategy and planning on all grant applications.
- Communicates proposal strategies and progress. Compiles necessary information for the application through collaboration with employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
- Drafts and completes grant applications according to application requirements. Prepares narratives, completes forms, and coordinates application components with appropriate teams.
- Ensures grants are submitted on time and within application parameters.
- Develop/maintain funder relationships before, during, and after the grant process.
- Upon award, creates Contract Briefs and maintains a reporting calendar.
- Monitors post-award activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, requirements, and reporting.
- Develop a deep understanding of program content - understanding needs in relation to Programs, Social Enterprise, General Operations, and Rescue Mission's relationships with the communities we work in.
- Conducts regular reviews of Rescue Mission data (internal Program databases), an analysis of agency/client needs and gaps in service, in addition to a review of community data/reports that can be used in grant applications or by the Communications Team to support Rescue Mission strategic efforts.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
- Promotes a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field.
- Minimum of two years working as a grant writer/contract manager/communications professional.
- Prior experience with grant writing, research and outcome measurement.
- Ability to relate to people in a warm and friendly manner.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism in all activities.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company policy.
- The ability to write clearly, concisely, and effectively, also a strong editor and proofreader.
$60,406 annually.
