Summary of Position
To provide, research assistance and instruction to patrons in all subject areas of Maag Library with a special emphasis on assistance in the disciplines relating to Health and Human Services.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Assists all library patrons in library use and in identifying and accessing information relevant to their needs.
Serves as a library liaison to the College of Health and Human Services.
Establishes collaborative relationships with faculty, staff and students and develop services, resources, and initiatives to advance teaching, learning and research. Contacts faculty at least once a year to suggest services or collaboration.
Develops, teaches, and evaluates learning outcomes, instructional tools, web-based resources, and assessments for informational literacy to a diverse community of students and faculty.
Works with faculty and staff to develop collections and resources supporting academic programs.
Maintains an awareness of contemporary and historical information resources critical to the University's scholarly programs.
Develops and maintains web-based resources (subject guides, class pages, instructional tools, etc.) in assigned subject areas and related programs.
Participates in public services rotation work including evenings and weekends.
Compiles necessary statistics and prepares reports for YSU schools, departments, regional accrediting agencies, state agencies and/or professional organizations.
Conducts library research as appropriate or as directed.
Serves on committees or functional teams as necessary or as directed.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated:
Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule:
Typically, M-T-W-Th-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Supervision Exercised:
May exercise supervision over student employees.
Reports to . Co-Director & Head of Research and Academic Support.
Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: University policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management; of information literacy issues in a higher education environment.
Skill in: Use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*; proficient with disciplinary research databases such as CINAHL, MEDLINE, Nursing@Ovid, PubMed, and ProQuest.
Ability to: Collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships; teach research concepts and skills both in-person and online to a diverse user community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional degree in health sciences or a related field; experience in liaison work with health professionals and/or health organizations; experience in teaching and preparing course materials.
