We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ), serving girls in grades K-12 across Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members. We are looking for a Marketing Communications Specialist to join our team!
The Marketing Communications Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and assists in developing and executing promotional campaigns aligned with GSNNJ's goals. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, team player, creative, digitally savvy, and comfortable working across various communication platforms and apps. They should enjoy working in a mission-driven, results-oriented, community-focused environment, exercising good judgment and maintaining organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
Working with the Graphics & Digital Content Specialist, the specialist will implement marketing tactics and uphold Girl Scout brand standards across all communications. They will collaborate with various departments to create content for emails, social media, website, and public relations.
Responsibilities Include
Marketing
Utilize Salesforce Marketing Cloud to develop and deliver targeted emails and customer journey automations, including the bi-weekly eNewsletter. (Proficiency in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Journey Builder and Taxi is preferred or willingness to learn.)
Support Public Relations by creating and distributing press releases, media alerts, and coordinating Girl Scout appearances.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop advertising and promotional content for various platforms and events.
Gather data for reports and dashboards to evaluate campaign engagement and results, communicating insights clearly.
Handle confidential matters under pressure.
Participate in training and work with our Media Girls Team of Girl Scouts.
Website
Write, copyedit, and prepare original content for the website with the Graphics & Digital Content Specialist.
Evaluate and update digital content, emphasizing diversity and inclusion to meet stakeholder needs.
Social Media
Create, schedule, and manage social media content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok, in collaboration with the Graphics & Digital Content Specialist and under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Maintain a council-wide social media calendar using management platforms like Meta, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social.
Document and live stream council events as needed.
Other Duties Contribute to organizational initiatives, support council programs, activities, public relations, and fundraising efforts, as part of our small, passionate team.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in marketing/communications preferred or equivalent experience.
Ability to work with diverse staff, volunteers, Girl Scouts, and vendors.
Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, proofreading, and editing skills.
Proven social media customer service skills.
Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, web, email, social media, and CRM platforms.
Basic knowledge of Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud; advanced skills in email automation are a plus.
Purchase of an Adult Girl Scout Membership upon employment and adherence to dress code for formal occasions.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
Willingness to travel occasionally within the jurisdiction.
