Summary
The Lead Creative Designer creates high-level print and embroidery graphic concepts, via sketch or final art, for regular and rush requests, wholesale lines, special art collections, sales presentations, and events, following standard protocols. Capable of light art direction and communicating effectively with the design team, acting as third in command when the Senior Creative Manager or Creative Supervisor are unavailable. Must possess excellent creative, production, and communication skills, with in-depth knowledge of decoration standards and art systems.
- Responsible for a significant portion of new creative concepts for sample lines twice a year, either through creation or art direction (as requested by the Creative Manager).
- Develops strong relationships with Designers, Graphic Artists, internal and external teams, and vendors.
- Shadows Creative Supervisor/Creative Manager on art direction and communication, including critiques.
- Communicates solutions and questions to the Creative Manager or Supervisor.
- Demonstrates strong market, trend, and attribution knowledge.
- Stays current on design styles and trends via retail, web, and industry trade shows, integrating market trends into seasonal designs appropriately.
- May act as liaison during meetings when the Creative Manager/Creative Supervisor are unavailable.
- Works with the team to develop and organize graphic tools and sales materials, including presentations.
- Has working knowledge of decoration costing, collaborating with internal teams and manufacturing to determine costs of designs and processes.
- Leads factory R&D for innovation, keeping costs in mind during development.
- Travel may be required to work with partners, attend trade shows, and client presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3-6 years of graphic design experience.
- Understanding of graphic art concepts such as composition, color, and balance.
- Proficiency in Macintosh computers and Adobe Creative Suite.
