The University
Sonoma State University's beautiful 274-acre campus is located in Sonoma County wine country, an hour north of San Francisco. Founded in 1960, SSU is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University System and is a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution.
The Department
The Department of Art & Art History offers courses of study leading to a B.A. degree in Art History and B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in Studio Art. The Studio Art curriculum is designed to develop the ability to create, analyze, interpret, and evaluate art.
Duties of the Position
Applicants for the Art Studio courses will be expected to teach one or more of the following Studio Art courses. Familiarity with safe instructional use of all tools, equipment, and techniques used in the areas the candidate is applying for is required:
- Painting
- Drawing
- Printmaking
- Photography
- Sculpture
- Ceramics
- 2D Fundamentals
- 3D Fundamentals
Professional Qualifications
To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have the following requirements for Art Studio courses:
- MFA or an equivalent degree within the area they are applying (example: MFA in Sculpture).
- Two years of teaching courses similar to those described at the college level (not including T.A. experience).
- Strong record of exhibition on the regional and national levels.
- Professional and technical experience in studio art.
Rank and Salary
Full-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases:
- Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.
- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.
- Selection as a candidate in the applicant pool does not guarantee employment.
