Must take the Para Pro exam or have a minimum of an AA degree.
Title: Educational Assistant Library Elementary School
Reports To: the principal
Supervises: students
Contract Length: 260 days
Pay Schedule: per salary schedule
Overtime Status: Must be pre-approved
Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

- High School Diploma
- Typing and filing skills
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
Resources Used in Performing Job Include: Standard office equipment and district vehicle for travel. A district car may be used, or mileage reimbursement is available if using personal vehicle.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Regularly required to walk, talk, listen, stand, sit, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. Vision abilities include close, distance, and depth perception. Light lifting required.
Environmental Conditions:
Work environment noise level is usually moderate.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate and supervise the library.
- Follow oral and written directives.
- Maintain open communication with media, staff, teachers, administrators, parents, students, and others.
- Organize book fairs, storytime, media displays, and promotional activities.
- Oversee library appearance and displays.
- Manage the library budget.
- Assist in media production, cataloging, and equipment maintenance.
- Perform inventory, order requisitions, and library media selection.
- Assist teachers and students with library resources and media.
- Perform clerical routines, manage circulation, and maintain records.
- Ensure proper shelving and organization of media.
- Maintain library collection, participate in professional development, and promote library use.
- Arrange interlibrary loans, prepare books for reserve, and assist with library scheduling.
- Provide library orientation and instruction to students.
- Maintain student discipline and assist students with reference materials.
- Train student media assistants and perform other operational tasks.
- Ten-month year: participate in inventory and purchase processes before and after the school year.
Personal Accountability:
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and proper attire.
- Use equipment skillfully, protect resources, and utilize body mechanics.
Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test, background check, and providing necessary documentation.
