In this leadership role, you will serve as the strategic communications partner to the CHRO and the HR executive leadership team in developing inspiring communications campaigns to promote how Guardian fosters the mind, body, and wallet well-being of our colleagues, as well as their career and professional development success. This leader will design and deliver a communication strategy that elevates HR’s brand and impact, drives colleague engagement, and supports transformation efforts across the enterprise. This role blends internal communications, leadership communications, and change management with a strong focus on storytelling, transparency, and authenticity. Key areas of communications focus include total rewards; organizational effectiveness, leadership, and learning; culture, equity and inclusion; HR policies and colleague relations; Workday and HR operational processes, workplace and real estate strategy; and corporate impact.
You are:
A Strategic Advisor to HR Leadership Act who acts a trusted advisor to the CHRO and HR Leadership Team, providing strategic counsel on communication needs, risks, and opportunities.
Responsible for leading the creation and delivery of compelling executive communications, including speeches, town halls, videos, blogs, and internal social content for the CHRO and HR leaders.
A stand-out writer, editor, and communications strategist with an ability to design and implement a comprehensive HR communications strategy that aligns with Guardian’s mission, culture, and colleague experience goals.
Adept at developing communication strategies and plans across integrated internal and external channels that promote storylines, support culture and change initiatives, and foster colleague and people leader engagement
Able to partner closely with HR Centers of Expertise (e.g., Talent, Equity and Inclusion, Total Rewards, Colleague Relations) to support enterprise-wide change initiatives through clear, consistent, and engaging communications.
Skilled at successfully managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Skilled at using data to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts and continuously improve messaging and delivery channels
A strong collaborator who excels at having a “can do” attitude, communicating transparently, and partnering with senior leaders and other stakeholders across a matrixed organization to ensure successful outcomes
Experienced at coaching and managing a high-performing team
Able to strike the balance between acting as strategic thinker while also managing, influencing and radically prioritizing initiatives where appropriate
You will:
Oversee a team responsible for the creation and distribution of end-to-end communication strategies and tactical plans across integrated internal and external channels for all assigned HR communications campaigns/initiatives
Act as a trusted advisor and communications strategist to manage relationships and influence decision-making with key stakeholders
Coordinate and write CHRO executive and leadership communications to align with voice, tone, and style criteria
Ensure operational excellence and deliver high quality, error-free content and messaging
You have:
Minimum of 15 years of communications experience and leadership, preferably in the Insurance/ Financial Services industry or other highly regulated industry; HR communications experience desired
Deep experience developing and executing successful communications strategies
Strong planning, project management, organizational, influencing, and negotiating skills
Graphic desktop publishing/ content management and professional social media writing/posting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, Human Resources, or related field
Reporting relationship:
This role reports to our Head of Internal Communications within our Marketing & Communications function.

Can be based in Holmdel, NJ; Hudson Yards, NY; Boston, MA; Stamford, CT; or Bethlehem, PA
Is hybrid with at least 3 days/week in the office
May require up to 25% travel within US
Salary Range:
$151,950.00 - $249,630.00 The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
