Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: Minimum $44,572 (10-month, college-year), commensurate with experience
The Marketing and Communications Manager for Theatre creates content and implements strategy for marketing and communications for all internal and external purposes for the department. This position is responsible for promoting the Theater Department's Mainstage productions and the BA in Theatre and BFA in Musical Theatre degree programs. The ideal candidate has a background in graphic design, social media marketing, and public relations. Work experience or creative work in any of the following fields is a plus: theater, photography, videography, writing, higher education.
This position serves as a communication hub for its current population of students, faculty and staff as well as prospective students, alumni and partnering offices across campus. This position works closely with Harpur College, Harpur Edge, Anderson Center staff, Communications and Marketing, Fleishman Center for Professional and Career Development, Multicultural Resource Center, Parking Services and many others. The position serves on the following committees: Social Media Task Force (MarComm), Production Selection (Theatre), CONNECT Planning Committee (Fleishman/Alumni Association) and Events Committee for campus.
Key Duties Include:
Planning and executing marketing campaigns for each mainstage production
Create and manage social media content for the department's platforms
Create digital and paper promotional items such as posters, flyers, postcards etc.
Supervise student assistants in a credit bearing agreement
Work with university photographers, videographers for promotional and archival projects
Write and submit press releases through Communications and Marketing announcing seasons, shows and special events
Collect, create and curate content to promote productions, alumni, faculty, staff and student accomplishments when applicable
Manage multiple email lists, create content relevant to the various audiences
Assist student directors in marketing needs for studio shows
Promote academic programs, new classes and workshops through email marketing, campus advertising (Union Digital Ads, Pipe Dream) and print collateral
Provide department tours for prospective students and guests of theater
Coordinate office coverage, guiding and helping visitors and students
Work with office staff and relevant faculty on planning events around productions, open house and commencement for the department
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree by 9/1/2024
Experience in professional marketing
Commitment to contributing to an inclusive environment
Some expertise in graphic design
Experience in social media marketing
Experience in public relations
Writing skills
Preferred:
Experience or creative work in Theatre
Experience or creative work in photography
Experience or creative work in videography
Experience in Higher Education
