The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector & Voter Registrar maintains tax accounts, collects property taxes, performs vehicle registrations and title transfers, and facilitates the voter registration process for stakeholders in the nation’s third-largest county. Position Description
The Multi-Media Specialist will report to the Director of External Communications, working closely to develop compelling content, support branding, media relations, and social media strategies that engage and inform constituents, enhancing the public image of the office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Social Media Management and Content Strategy: Assist in developing and executing engaging social media campaigns to increase follower engagement and align content with the office's objectives and public-facing messaging.
- Multimedia and Graphic Design: Create digital content combining graphics, video, and audio to engage and educate the public, supported by print collateral.
- External Communications Planning and Execution: Assist with special events, including press conferences and community outreach initiatives.
- Media Relations Support: Manage media requests, proactive outreach, and develop press materials.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work with the Director of External Affairs to ensure consistent messaging and effective campaign execution.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of External Communications.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years in external communications, media relations, or marketing.
- Experience developing multimedia campaigns.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Multimedia Design: Experience with graphics, video, audio, animation; proficient in Adobe Suite, Canva, social media platforms.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills for social media and communication materials.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align communications with organizational goals.
- Adaptability & Resilience: Capable of navigating change and working under pressure.
Preferences
- Experience in government or public sector communications.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Additional Information
Work conditions include an office environment, some physical activity, and potential off-site events. Location: Downtown Houston. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Employment contingent on passing a drug screen and other standards.
