NAHQ seeks a dynamic Vice President of Communications & Public Relations to advance our brand reputation and leadership position in the marketplace. NAHQ has experienced significant growth and momentum over the past several years. We have set exciting new long-term strategic goals and are undergoing an organizational transformation to elevate our people, processes and systems to meet these new goals. That’s where you come in. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the new position of VP of Communications & PR is integral to the achievement of our new strategic plan and will bring a successful track record and extensive experience in their field. This person will be responsible for leading the development and execution of NAHQ’s overall PR efforts, executive visibility, media relations, content strategy, thought leadership and internal communications that promote the overall NAHQ brand as well our products, services, events, thought leadership and strategic alliances. This role is supported by a Director of Communications & PR and also works in close partnership with the NAHQ CEO and other senior leaders of the organization as well as the board of directors to elevate the association through award recognition and by securing high profile speaking engagements throughout the year to enhance NAHQ’s brand image and reputation. This role also liaisons closely with marketing, HR, product and sales stakeholders across the organization. Hybrid Work Model: Typically 1-2 days in-office (near O’Hare, free parking, blue line/I-90 access) with occasional travel (up to 20%). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and execute strategic, integrated PR/communications plans for the organization in collaboration with senior leadership, product owners, sales and marketing teams. Work collaboratively with the NAHQ marketing team and across departments to develop and ensure activities are aligned with the organization's strategic focus and business priorities. Partner with NAHQ CEO, CMO, SMEs and NAHQ Intelligence Team in the development of thought leadership articles based on our data-driven intelligence, marketing collateral and white papers. Leverage strong writing skills and expert storytelling ability to capture the voice of the brand and key leaders to write on their behalf. Ability to write thought leadership articles and edit/optimize articles/white papers written by NAHQ CEO or SMEs. Monitor daily healthcare industry news/trends and share with senior leadership and organization as a whole, in a curated and highly actionable way. Leverage NAHQ owned data and/or synthesize industry trends and thought leadership into content strategies for paid, owned and earned media. Develop and lead day-to-day PR, content calendars and communications strategies and tactics, including supervision of NAHQ’s Director of Communications & PR and other external freelancers/consultants. Serve as an ambassador for the organization, cultivating strong relationships with national and healthcare industry media through proactive pitching and immediate response to reporter inquiries. Create engaging pitches to media and acquire positive media placements in both top tier/business and leading healthcare trade publications. Develop marketing PR communications for both established and new products with an eye toward increasing awareness, brand reputation and market share for NAHQ. Draft a variety of PR materials, including press releases, media profiles, press advisories, contributed articles, op-eds, social posts and more. Lead development of an overarching content strategy for the brand, in collaboration with marketing and key product stakeholders. Identify PR/communications related KPIs, manage ongoing reporting, and analyze results to optimize initiatives and determine most efficient spending of NAHQ resources. Provide strategic media relations counsel and leadership to NAHQ CEO, executive leadership team and board of directors, positively positioning the organization and its institutions. Create additional PR/engagement opportunities and press interviews around NAHQ events. NAHQ leadership awards and activities associated with NAHQ’s strategic alliance with The Joint Commission. In collaboration with the marketing team, manage NAHQ presence at industry conferences/tradeshows including booth design and collateral materials to maximize NAHQ presence, promote NAHQ thought leaders, and leverage media opportunities. Develop PR plans to elevate NAHQ brand reputation, CEO profile and support NAHQ’s speaking presence at industry trade shows. Identify and vet speaking opportunities. Assist CEO and other NAHQ leaders in the development of presentations. Develop SOPs and support presentation needs for speaking opportunities. Develop and implement communications strategies required to address crisis/disaster response if/as needed. Lead digital communications for PR-related content, ensuring adherence to NAHQ writing style and brand guidelines. Serve as contributing content provider for NAHQ.org, including the creation and review of content for the website. Develop/manage content calendar and oversee creative for videos, emails, eNews and social posts, across Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram, in service of PR related communications. Manage development and execution of webinars and podcasts to promote NAHQ thought leadership and leaders. Collaborate with NAHQ leadership and HR staff in development of internal communications initiatives and oversight of NAHQ’s Glassdoor Reviews and responses. Collaborate, as necessary, with board members on governance-related activities, including the development of the NAHQ annual report, monthly CEO Update, monthly e-News President’s Column, etc. Mentor and manage the Director of Communications & PR, building their capacity to manage day-to-day PR functions and strategic projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field. 10+ years of PR, executive visibility, media relations, content strategy, thought leadership experience, internal/corporate communications experience. Combination of PR agency and client-side experience preferred, though not required. 5+ years of healthcare industry experience required ; knowledge of the healthcare Quality & Safety space and established media relationships is ideal. Proven portfolio of writing samples including press releases, executive presentations, thought leadership articles/white papers, and social posts. SPECIALIZED SKILLS Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including ability to write and edit content for all audience levels and channels. Experience and enthusiasm for supporting C-suite and board-level executives. Media trained with an ability to share those skills with NAHQ leadership. Outstanding collaboration, client service, project and team management skills. High energy level, with self-drive to achieve goals. Strong affinity for mission-driven, fast-paced environments. Ability to interpret data and apply it to decision-making and strategy building. Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
