WPTZ-TV, the Hearst Television owned NBC affiliate in South Burlington, is looking for a creative services intern to work in the fast-paced tv newsroom team. Join our supportive and dynamic creative team-one of the most innovative and inclusive departments in the company! Our national award-winning campaigns are powered by a collaborative spirit and a commitment to excellence, driven by our core values of teamwork and creativity.
This intern will be part of the Neurodiversity@Hearst program, a paid, full-time 15-week internship program for neurodivergent/autistic talent interested in enhancing their technical skills. From June 2nd - September 12th, 2025, interns will participate in an immersive, hands-on experience at a leading global, diversified media, information, and services company. This cohort will include interns at Hearst Television (WBAL, WLWT, and WPTZ), Fitch Ratings, and Hearst Corporate. The reasonable estimate for this position is $25/hour. This position is in person out of the WPTZ office.
What You'll Do and Learn
- Learn about the varied responsibilities of the Creative Services Department
- Experience an energizing inspiring atmosphere resulting in your own creative for live broadcast
- Explore broadcast operations and gain a full understanding of a television station
- Learn to maximize creative potential through teamwork collaboration and by expressing your ideas
- Learn the steps and processes to produce, shoot, and edit engaging promotions
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for on-air promotion, commercials, digital marketing, and station social media
- Assist with the planning and coordination of live remote broadcasts
- Contribute to executing station campaigns and marketing projects
The following experiences are preferred, but not required. We encourage candidates with enthusiasm for learning new technologies to apply, even if they don't meet all the preferences.
- Desire for ongoing improvement and learning and a passion to be creative.
- Aptitude for technology, comfortable learning computer applications, and ability to understand and learn electronic equipment, such as video cameras, lighting equipment, sound recording equipment, and other gear used in television production
- A plus if you have experience in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, and Illustrator
