Description
JOB SUMMARYThe Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the strength, clarity, and overall quality of sounds and images broadcasted on the radio and television and, increasingly, sound and images transmitted via satellite, cable, and the internet. The Broadcast Engineer will ensure The County Channel is on the air and has current and engaging programming. This position will provide technical support to broadcast facilities in repair, maintenance, installation, and modification of technical broadcasting equipment. Incumbents in this classification travel to remote locations for equipment repair, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and make decisions and take corrective action with supervision. This position will supervise college internship staff.Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSOperate, maintain, and repair transmitters used for live broadcast programs, meetings, and events. Manage and maintain audio equipment to regulate volume level and quality of sound during radio and television broadcasts. Guides or takes part in the planning and installation of new equipment systems and associated components.
Train staff on proper operations of all A/V equipment. Set up, maintain, and operate remote meeting facilities. Provide technical support to broadcast facilities in repair, maintenance, installation, and modification of technical broadcasting equipment. Makes recommendations to the Broadcast Director of any needed upgrades. Facilities upgrades of all broadcast equipment. Supervise internship staff by prioritizing and assigning work; providing performance feedback; provide training; and ensuring internship staff follows policies and procedures. Perform other related duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:
Associate's Degree in Communications or a related area Four (4) years of related work experience working with audio, television, or special broadcasting events; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Valid Driver's LicensePreferred Licenses or Certifications:
Audio Engineer Cameraman Lighting Engineer Rigging Certification
Supplemental Information
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
