Summary of the Position This position is responsible for creating technical 3D models, assemblies, and drawings to support the design of Air End Compressors. The Designer collaborates with engineers and design staff to support product development and improvement initiatives. This role is based on-site and plays a critical part in delivering reliable and manufacturable compressor components.
Location: On-site, Michigan City, Indiana

Minimum Requirements Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Design or trade school equivalent Experience with industrial manufacturing processes, materials, or equipment is required 5-10 years creating technical 3D models, assemblies, and drawings Strong 3D parametric modeling skills (ex: NX, Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo) in mechanical design & routing Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) Ability to create complex assemblies (finished product) using constraints Proficiency in using PLM software (ex: Teamcenter, Windchill, Autodesk Vault) for document and data control Basic knowledge of engineering analysis techniques Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Castings, transmissions, pumps, compressor design experience is preferred Experience creating and interpreting Drafting Standards Familiarity with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Demonstrated ability to work in a continuous improvement environment Prior experience mentoring junior team members or supporting cross-functional teams Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or JD Edwards Effective communication and time management skills
Key Responsibilities Create and revise 3D CAD models and technical drawings for compressor components and assemblies Perform basic engineering calculations, including weight and center of gravity Model new vendor parts and integrate them into assemblies as required Support multiple engineers and internal teams (Sales, Warranty, Customer Service) with technical information Prepare and document Engineering Requests (ERs) for the release and revision of parts, BOMs, and drawings Ensure designs reflect considerations for safety, maintainability, and robustness Design assemblies in the context of top-level system constraints and arrangements Participate in the development of standard practices, processes, and templates Provide timely and accurate project status updates to management Apply sound design and simulation practices to both CFD and FEA-related tasks Participate in continuous improvement and cross-functional strategic initiatives
