REPORTS TO: School Administrator and Music Department Chair
POSITION CONCEPT:
The Music Instructor serves the Mission, Vision, and Values of REH, Inc. by providing instruction for assigned classes, programs, and/or private lessons within the Education Department of Ruth Eckerd Hall – The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts (MPH).
- Serve as an onsite Instructor for MPH classes, summer camps, and private lessons as assigned.
- Serve as an Instructor for community outreach efforts with partner schools and organizations as assigned.
- Support departmental productions and events.
- Adherence to budgets for all assigned programs and productions.
- Attend all REH and MPH meetings, as appropriate.
- Professionally represent Ruth Eckerd Hall and The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at all times.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in the arts, education, or closely related field preferred (combination of education and experience within genre of expertise will be considered in the absence of a degree).
- Teaching experience required, with comprehensive knowledge of classroom management techniques.
- Experience within a performing arts environment highly desired.
- Ability to promote and expand artistic programs.
Demonstrated Skills or Knowledge:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the performing arts.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of project management and culture including flexibility.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of teamwork and shared responsibility.
- Ability to plan and organize tasks and projects for efficiency and manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential conversations, correspondence, and records with discretion.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate relevant information effectively to prompt desired actions.
- Ability to anticipate problems or identify issues before they significantly impact service delivery, expenses, or revenues, and to propose corrective actions or solutions.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and generate trust from a diverse group of people.
- Ability to seek out required information independently.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to maintain good attendance, which is a condition of employment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
- Ability to travel to conferences and workshops as required.
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and other basic office machinery.
- Ability to use a telephone effectively.
- Ability to drive with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Other:
- Irregular work hours and days.
- Must complete and pass Level II Screening.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
