Description
The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication is pleased to invite applications for an Adjunct Assistant/Associate Professor of Film Studies in the Department of Radio, Television, Film at Hofstra University.
The candidate would teach undergraduate-level courses on a semester-by-semester basis, in the following possible areas:
- Introduction to Film Studies (focusing on critical analysis)
- Film History
- Film Genres
- Film Authorship
The candidate should have an expansive view of each of these canons, including a practice of DEI.
Qualifications
- Have completed a Master's degree in Film Studies with teaching experience or PhD/ABD in Film Studies.
- A successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
Preferred Quals Summary
- PhD in Film Studies.
- Record of scholarly publications.

Salary/Salary Range
$1,422-$1,794 per credit

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
