Horizon Christian Fellowship North County traces its history to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, and Pastor Chuck Smith. Pastor Chuck founded Calvary Chapel in the late 60’s. Pastor Mike MacIntosh, an assistant to Pastor Chuck, felt led to begin a home Bible study in San Diego in 1973, and by the summer of 1976, Horizon Christian Fellowship was officially started.
In 1993, a Horizon church plant was started in San Diego’s North County at the Del Mar Hilton. It began with less than 60 people, and Pastor Mike handed over the pastoring responsibilities to one of his assistant pastors, Bob Botsford. With the completion of the current facility in Rancho Santa Fe, the church has grown significantly. In addition to ministering to over 3,000 people weekly, Horizon Christian Fellowship supports a variety of missionaries and mission organizations, making a global impact through God’s work.
