Description
Researches, reports, writes, and produces multimedia spots and features for Houston Public Media (HPM) on-air and digital platforms. Serves as on-air program host, with specific roles possibly focused on either TV or radio operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing aesthetic and creative direction for live and recorded public media programs.
- Conceptualizing, researching, developing, and executing ideas into program content.
- Hosting on-air and delivering verbal content according to professional broadcast standards, including NPR standards.
- Operating station broadcast and production equipment professionally, adhering to NPR standards.
- Enhancing the station's public image through community outreach events.
- Participating in station fund-raising campaigns and special events.
- Training other on-air talent or serving as a team lead, as needed.
- Managing the HPM website and sharing content across social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: A four-year college degree or equivalent specialized training in a relevant discipline, demonstrating both theoretical and practical knowledge.
Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant, directly related experience.
Certification/Licensing: None required.
