This hourly position is about 20 hours per week during the 2024-2025 academic year (through June), with potential for summer extension and re-engagement. The person in this position will work consistent business hours, with some flexibility. Work may be a mixture of on-site and remote; availability to come to campus is required.The Social Media Coordinator will create content (text, graphics, images, video) and monitor and manage interactions on the college's official social media profiles. In addition, the Coordinator will write occasional content for email newsletters and for the CCNY website.Responsibilities
Developing and drafting social media content for approvalAttending campus events and interviewing, photographing, and videotaping students and othersPhotography and video: Shooting, basic editing, and posting to multiple platformsVerifying information with campus colleagues to ensure accuracyMonitoring, evaluating, and responding to incoming messaging, in collaboration with supervisorBrainstorming and innovating on social mediaDeveloping and drafting occasional newsletter content for approvalDeveloping and drafting occasional website content for approvalRelated duties as neededRequirements
The ideal candidate:A strong, strategic writer with several years' previous social media experience representing a brand or institutionMust be proficient and keep up to date with trends and functionality on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube; must have interest in learning new social media platforms and digital toolsBasic video editing, photo editing, and graphics skills and own softwareDemonstrated ability to think analytically and apply professional discernmentResearch skills, integrity, accuracy, and editorial judgmentComfortable with a quick paceBackground in journalism or PR is usefulEducation
