Job Summary
B&A is looking for an IT Technical Writer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a skilled IT Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for our IT systems, software, and technical processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with developers, engineers, and product teams to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content.
Responsibilities
- Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, API documentation, system specifications, and process guides.
- Work with IT teams to document software, hardware, and network systems for internal and external use.
- Translate complex technical information into accessible and easy-to-understand content for various audiences.
- Create diagrams, flowcharts, and visuals to enhance technical documentation.
- Maintain documentation libraries and ensure they are up-to-date with system updates and changes.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical details and ensure accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards and best practices.
- Assist in creating training materials and FAQs for IT products and services.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism or a related field required.
- 10 years of experience.
Required Skills
- Sound foundation in grammar, punctuation, and use of the English language, with emphasis on producing clear, direct prose.
- 7 years' experience developing IT presentation material for technical information (cybersecurity)
- 10 years' experience working collaboratively with senior and support IT personnel
- 10 years of experience with Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, PowerPoint Excel, Visio, and Forms
Desired Skills
- Additional education or certifications (e.g., Network+, Security+, CISSP) in IT/Information Security preferred.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript is a plus.
- Previous experience in IT service management (ITSM) or technical support documentation.
Security Clearance
- eligible to obtain a security clearance.
