University of Idaho Extension and the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station publish educational, research-based information for specialized audiences and the public. We publish articles, booklets, videos, curricula, and more. These are available in various media, including print and online as HTML pages, PDF files, etc.
All of our products are refereed through our Manuscript FastTrack peer-review system and listed in our online publications catalog.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing high-level administrative support duties for the UI Extension Publishing department, including selling, stocking, and distributing inventory of publications and promotional materials. Additional duties may include assisting with publishing processes under the direction of the publishing director, scheduling department calendars and facilities, acting as the primary office contact for faculty members, staff, students, and external stakeholders, and performing other related office support duties at the publications office on the Moscow campus.
Minimum Requirements
- Three years in publishing and administrative support
- Written communication; proofreading and editing
- Office support functions including:
- Word processing
- Filing
- Composing a variety of business documents
- Researching, compiling, and summarizing data from reports
- Financial record-keeping methods
- Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other
- None
Additional Preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in office management, business, or a related field
- Five years of experience in publishing, inventory management, and administrative support
- Experience with Acumen accounting software
- Experience with Manuscript FastTrack system
- Experience providing document layout and design, using Adobe Creative Cloud and, specifically Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, or Adobe Photoshop
- Knowledge of the University of Idaho and University of Idaho Extension
- Demonstrated ability to work under stress, prioritize projects, perform last-minute duties under deadline, and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
