Position Summary
The University of Idaho Library is seeking a detail-oriented, flexible, and collaborative Research Impact Librarian. Reporting to the Dean, the Research Impact Librarian is responsible for developing, advancing, implementing and supporting a range of services around scholarly output research impact for the University of Idaho community. To accomplish these tasks, they will work extensively with the library’s new Research Information Management System, VERSO , which is being built on the Esploro platform, assisting community members with the data, reporting, data visualization, and profile publishing the system makes possible. This position will work collaboratively within the Library’s new Research and Experiential Learning ( REL ) unit, which encompasses such programs as research data and GIS services, making and fabrication spaces, and an audio/visual innovation lab. The successful candidate for this position will have an opportunity to define this new position through their creativity, enthusiasm, and vision. This is a 12-month fiscal year, tenure track faculty position. Faculty rank (assistant professor/associate professor) is negotiable, tenure status is not negotiable. Primary Responsibilities: Provides consultations and training to faculty, students, and administrators on research impact topics such as bibliometrics, altmetrics, scholarly profiles, identifying high-impact journals, and increasing research visibility. Develops and implements outreach strategies to inform campus stakeholders about available research impact services. Collaborates with liaison librarians to integrate impact services into their work. Oversees the institution’s repository and provides guidance on metadata standards, copyright, and deposit procedures to optimize discovery and reuse of scholarship. Generates repository reports and analyzes metrics. Investigates and recommends appropriate tools, systems, and metrics to support research impact assessment. Stays current on evolving best practices in measuring impact. Contributes to the library’s data storytelling efforts by analyzing citation patterns and benchmarks, identifying research strengths, and visualizing trends.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree from an ALA -accredited library program or the equivalent Experience with university research environments and communities Experience working collaboratively in a team-based environment Experience using communications skills for teaching, troubleshooting, and/or producing documentation and reports Experience using initiative, creating opportunities, and developing effective partnerships
Preferred Qualifications
Experience maintaining and managing a research information system and/or institutional repository Demonstrated experience using bibliometric data sources such as Web of Science, InCites, Scopus, SciVal, and/or Google Scholar Fluidity with data cleaning, data processing, data reuse, and data visualization. Knowledge of programming languages such as python, javascript, or other languages useful for editing and repurposing data
