What You Will Do

You will be exposed to a wide variety of government clients, programs, and consulting services. Proposal volume fluctuates based on funding, client needs, and deadlines, requiring flexibility. This position is an hourly non-exempt classification with flexible scheduling between 20-40 hours per week. As a Proposal Writer, you will:

• Analyze Request for Proposals/Request for Offers
• Craft questions to clarify the client’s need(s).
• Develop a proposal schedule and track task completion.
• Establish the proposal outline/structure.
• Write or tailor existing narrative in a persuasive manner.
• Develop visual elements and layouts.
• Complete required forms.
• Ensure proposal compliance with the RFP.
• Conduct quality assurance before final submission.
• Report to an experienced Business Development Director for continuous training and mentoring.

Who You Are

We are seeking professionals who possess the following:

• Minimum 5 years of government proposal writing experience.
• Excellent communication, writing, organizational, and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience with State of California procurement methods and rules.
• Ability to learn quickly about new government programs, services, and capabilities.
• Ability to work both independently and contribute as a member of the team.
• Ability to collaborate with all client levels, including executives, managers, and staff.
• A Masters’ degree (MBA/MPA/MPP) is not required, but desirable.
