The Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing, building, optimizing and maintaining program(s) that leads to the maximization of student learning and career outcomes in one or multiple domains. They will analyze data, define and run research, and iterate content and curricula for skills training across Chegg Skill's portfolio of programs to achieve these outcomes. The content created will address the core needs of learners who wish to upskill or move into new career paths.The Senior Instructional Designer must be an expert in adult learning design and bring experience developing content and assessments to meet the needs of learners and partners. They will stay up to date on industry-recognized credentials and skills to prepare students to test for certifications or job outcomes. They will then use this set of findings to inspire informed development of our programs for a designated area and measure the efficacy of the content they design at delivering improved student outcomes.The Senior Instructional Designer must be skilled in designing for a range of domains - from highly technical content to durable skills / soft skills content. Additionally, they must be comfortable building programs for different types of learners and customers - such as business to business (B2B) and direct to consumer (D2C). They should have experience utilizing AI tools to enhance curriculum development processes and power elements of the learning experience. They should be comfortable utilizing lab-based tooling systems, prompt engineering simulations, working with SMEs, and be interested in staying up to date with industry certifications and new instructional design tools - ensuring our content stays competitive in the market.Responsibilities
Formulate data-driven strategies for maintaining and improving instructional materials for our programs.Partner with our Instructional Design Manager to formulate a strategy for improving student outcomes in assigned programs.Conduct surveys, tests, and competitive analyses to ensure our learning objectives are teaching the highest-demand job skills.Test updated content with users to ensure clarity and student engagement.Evaluate the efficacy of learning outcomes and curriculum for individual students.Set program design and create materials to help learners achieve objectives at high rates.Hire, manage and review the work of subject matter experts.Create and update skills taxonomies for assigned programs.Solve for a diverse group of student personas.Design towards different goals and metrics depending on customer needs.Ensure our content delivery is viable and feasible.Mentor and inspire junior instructional designers and subject matter experts.Recommend and communicate instructional strategy.Represent Chegg excellently to students, staff, partners, and peers.Perform other duties and ad hoc requests as needed by management.Requirements
3-5 Years working in a Curriculum Development or Instructional Design role.2+ years of experience with adult educational programming.2+ years designing learning experiences for an online education platform.Experience with prompt engineering and utilizing AI tools.Experience developing programs for B2B and D2C formats.Excellent writing and editing skills.Experience managing others to deliver on your vision.Strong understanding of best practices in user research and adult learning theory.Experience running user interviews and developing personas based on findings.Experienced in analyzing data and developing content solutions.Ability to contextualize skills and tools taught in the program.Self-motivated, organized, reliable, and deadline-oriented.Comfortable with remote work and excellent communication skills.Note:
