Overview
The Oregon Journalism Project was launched in 2024 as a non-profit newsroom of watchdog journalists focusing on serious issues of statewide import with a particular focus on rural Oregon.
We are looking to hire a general assignment investigative reporter who will help us hold power to account.
While our newsroom is based in Portland, OJP focuses on statewide stories about abuses of power, shoddy oversight, and betrayals of public trust that we share with 44 partner publications across Oregon.
We’re looking for a journalist who has five or more years of experience producing original accountability journalism, and has ideas about what they’d like to uncover in Oregon.
We are looking for someone who can deliver projects that may take months of digging while also focusing on emerging issues through quick hits reported over days or a couple of weeks.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience mining public records for documents and data, a level of comfort with government budgets, and has a track record of delivering investigative findings in ways that connect with readers.
This job is full time with competitive compensation and benefits. Having Spanish language skills is a plus.
Come join our team of world class journalists and be part of one of the most exciting newsrooms on the west coast!
