Pinnacle Solutions is looking for a Lead Technical Writer to be an integral member of our Training Systems Engineering and Development team. The Lead Technical Writer will work with product developers and lead a team to research, write, and edit deliverable technical publications, configuration documentation, and Integrated Logistics Support documentation for Pinnacle products. Publications include Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) in the form of operation and maintenance manuals, preventive maintenance systems, instructor utilization handbooks, COTS manuals, and other ILS/configuration documentation as required by the contract. ResponsibilitiesResearches, writes, edits and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specificationsEnsures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and styleAssists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrationsRetrieves, organizes, analyzes and synthesizes subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand informationCreates or revises hardware or software product documentation, which includes installation, operation and maintenance instructions and other technical publications such as technical advisories and release notesPerforms work with a high degree of latitudeHandles the most complex issuesPossesses expert knowledge of subject matterWill act as a lead QualificationsBachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or Engineering (with Technical Writing and/or Integrated Logistics Support experience).7 years of technical writing experience requiredAbility to collect, research, organize, and synthesize material from inspection of systems, engineering documentation, and oral discussions with personnel responsible for trainer systemsAbility to understand and follow contractual requirements and work with stakeholders to clarify and refine those requirements when ambiguous or open to interpretationExperience developing technical documentation of software architectures and toolsAbility to sustain customer rapport and interact well within a team environmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriatelyHigh proficiency in using MS Office, Visio, HTML documentation, XML (Arbortext or Oxygen), and Adobe AcrobatStrong, demonstrated team leadership skillsStrong, demonstrated project management skillsMust be a United States citizenRequired to communicate in EnglishMust be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearanceEmployee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required)The ability to travel to installation sites to support own project requirements for documentation validation and verification with customers, meetings, and other program eventsDesired Qualifications:10 years of experience as a technical writer and at least 8 years of management experienceTechnical writing experience in the simulation industry is preferredTechnical writing experience in Department of Defense, Military or Aviation Standards is preferredFamiliarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Adobe Illustrator is preferredLogistics experience providing maintainability/reliability analysis for customers is preferredExperience with content management and program tasking via Jira/Confluence, Microsoft Teams, and/or other online collaborative platforms Job ID2025-16057 Work TypeOn-Site Company DescriptionWork Where it MattersPinnacle Solutions, an Akima company, is not just another federal contractor.
