As a vital member of our Design/Build Facilities team as a Design Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to lead in the creation of construction package developments, work with multiple disciplined teams on projects that are full life cycle of concept through completion, provide utility coordination, ensure alignments are engineered correctly, and so much more! Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates extensive expertise and serves as an expert on rail/transit design-build projects.
2. Interprets internal and external business issues and recommends best practices.
3. Solves complex problems and takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
4. Identifies applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems.
5. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
6. Leads functional teams or projects and serves as a best practice or quality resource.
7. Prioritizes timely delivery while maintaining Quality and Safety standards.

Location: The final candidate could be located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland, Reston Virginia, or Washington, DC. Location preference is Washington, DC.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
2. Substantial progressive experience with Rail/Bus Facilities design projects and minimum 5 years’ experience with design build Rail/Bus facilities projects.
3. Professional Engineer (PE) License in VA/DC/MD, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
4. Substantial years of demonstrated professional experience on rail and bus projects.
5. Previous leadership experience and comfortable mentoring junior and mid-level staff.
6. Previous experience in a client-facing role and the ability to serve as a liaison between Jacobs and the client.
7. Professional expertise with MicroStation and/or InRail or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
8. Strong user of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project desired).
9. Knowledge of AREMA, NFPA, and local building criteria.
10. Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
11. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
12. Strong focus on client and contractor service.
13. Ability to assemble plan sets meeting client and contractor expectations.
14. Strong business acumen and conflict resolution skills.
15. Strong understanding of project management concepts including planning and budgeting, fee development, writing scopes of work, creating work breakdown structures, and project delivery schedules for design and related services.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

1. Experience with EV / Hydrogen buses.
2. Master of Business Administration (MBA).
3. Previous experience working with local agencies, including but not limited to WMATA, AMTRAK, MTA, Counties in VA/DC/MD.
4. Experience in Progressive Design/Build, CMAR or P3 projects.
5. Working experience with contractors.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $175,000.00 to $250,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
