The Lewiston Sun Journal, part of the Maine Trust for Local News, is hiring a full-time
photographer. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has an advanced proficiency in
portraiture, news and sports, as well as an aptitude to develop photo stories. Candidates must
also have skills in both shooting and editing video for social media. This position requires
schedule flexibility.

Essential Functions:

• Produce visually compelling images for a variety of assignments.
• Collaborate with editors and reporters to ensure the best possible visual coverage.
• Process, edit, tone, crop, and finalize images and videos for publication.
• Assist in the daily operation of the photo department and interact with the public as needed.

Job Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills.
• Attention to detail to ensure captions and other information are accurate.
• Strong sense of urgency and time management skills.
• Knowledge of relevant software and systems needed.
• Ability to set up assignments and promptly meet deadlines.
• Team player and collaborative attitude.

Education/Experience:

• A college degree in photography, journalism, or a related field, or significant professional experience is required.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required.
