Job Description:
Meade Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fire Protection Designer to join our design team. The Fire Protection Designer will assist in the development of fire protection system designs, including fire suppression, alarm, and detection systems for data centers. This role is ideal for an individual looking to grow their expertise in fire protection design within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Job Duties: Assist in the design and layout of fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and special hazard suppression systems. Develop drawings and technical documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard software. Ensure designs comply with relevant fire protection codes, standards, and regulations, such as NFPA and ICC. Coordinate with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to integrate fire protection systems into overall designs. Perform hydraulic calculations and assist in the selection of fire protection equipment and materials. Support site visits and inspections to verify system layouts and compliance with design plans. Prepare reports, specifications, and documentation as needed for project submittals. Stay current with advancements in fire protection technology and industry best practices. Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 2+ years of experience in fire protection system design. Familiarity with fire protection codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, ICC). Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BlueBeam. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications:
NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or willingness to obtain certification. Experience with BIM modeling and hydraulic calculation software. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems related to fire protection design
