Mechanical Designer
General:
We are searching for a motivated mechanical designer to visualize and create custom equipment to automate modular construction. The engineer needs to have at least five years of experience in machine design. Much of the equipment will be unique to the construction industry, requiring flexibility to break new ground and a good deal of R&D. The designer will have the opportunity to develop the machines from scratch, by understanding the process requirements and working with production personnel and controls engineers.
Requirements:
Design all parts of new equipment, including welded frames, pneumatic systems, gears, drives, and actuator mounting.
Must account for mounting and wire routing plans for sensors and electrical equipment in conjunction with controls engineers
Analysis of mechanical systems and processes and establish machine specifications.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must function well in a team environment
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be self-guided towards team goals and timelines
Will specify purchase parts and develop BOMS by working with vendors and technical experts.
Participate in assembly and testing of equipment
Create and maintain project documentation
Proficiencies:
SolidWorks
DraftSight or AutoCad
Familiarity with automated equipment in assembly plants
Education:
A four-year engineering degree is preferred, however experience can substitute
