Responsibilities
The Corporate Vice President of Communications and Public Relations is a strategic leader responsible for extensive writing, editing, planning, development, and execution of the organization's communications and public relations initiatives. This leadership role involves representing Prime Healthcare with internal and external stakeholders and serving as the primary spokesperson. The role is hands-on, overseeing the development and deployment of corporate communications, media relations, investor communications, government relations support, and PR/community engagement activities. The leader manages a team responsible for internal communications, executive communications, PR, media relations, crisis communications, corporate sponsorships, Foundation activities, website development, digital marketing, and social media strategy. Collaboration with hospital leadership across the system is essential to advance the company's strategic goals. Hospital Communications teams report indirectly to this role.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- 10+ years of effective communications experience in a healthcare delivery setting, including leadership at the C-suite level.
- Proven success in communicating with senior executives, board members, physician leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
- Excellent writing skills for diverse audiences.
- Relationship-building skills and experience with local and national media, including Becker’s Healthcare and Modern Healthcare.
- Demonstrated results in leading corporate and regional communications, crisis management, media relations, and public relations, including labor-related communications.
- A 'working leader' who develops materials under tight deadlines and works alongside teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, planning, and leadership skills; diplomatic with the ability to build positive relationships across the health system.
- Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in large, complex (matrixed) national health systems.
- Experience with investor relations.
- Knowledge of government relations and experience working with elected officials and stakeholders.
- Connections or experience with national news media in key markets such as LA, NYC, and the Midwest.
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or Journalism.
Prime Healthcare offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical/dental/vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and more. Compensation is estimated between $214,240 and $300,000 annually, depending on factors like location, experience, and education. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses based on performance.
