Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide the design, detailing and Bill of Materials for fabrication drawing packages. This position is called upon to take the sales orders, building attributes and engineering calculations to formulate the drafting & design of the submittal/installation drawings as well as the fabrication part drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing installation instructions, finalizing project specific designs, detail drafting and preparation of bills of materialsDrawings are created using SolidWorks softwareResponsible for reviewing engineering calculations and supporting documentation to ensure the final design meets the customers requirementsInterface with Project Engineers, Designers and Manufacturing for collaboration on final product designApply all engineering specifications and procedures that are to be used on all Porter Corp projectsUtilize the customer requirements, engineering calculation, and engineered drawings to provide correct and accurate fabrication drawings and installation instructionsCreate accurate Bill of Materials for manufacturingApply all drafting, design and CAD procedures as required to develop the project drawingsProvide help to other Designers as required to get a project completed in a timely mannerProvide installation drawings as well as the part fabrication drawings on schedule as dictated by customer requirementsPerform other related duties, as requiredCompetencies

Education and/or Experience
An Associates degree or engineering technology degree
Travel
This position requires minimal to no travel
Computer SkillsDemonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and AccessThis position requires proficiency in SolidWorks solid modeling using both Part/Assembly and Weldment modeling methods
Other Requirements
Knowledge in detailing proceduresCapable of working in a fast-paced production environmentHighly self-motivated to take action and keep projects moving forward
