Job Description
Major Objectives: As our Communications & Development Specialist, you will assist with the coordination and tracking of grant timelines, help market upcoming events, and promote sponsorship opportunities. This role will also include some social media posting, email marketing campaigns, and communicating directly with regional schools and businesses to share the wonderful programs and events we offer. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and excited to be part of a fun, community-focused work environment
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in communications, marketing, or development is preferred. Experience in grant writing or grant management is a plus.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, social media expertise, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), donor management software (e.g., Donor Perfect) and basic design software (e.g., Canva) is preferred.
- Passion: Pride in the Iron Range and a commitment to making a positive impact on the community.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: Ability to juggle multiple tasks, track deadlines, and keep everything running smoothly.
- Flexible & Adaptable: Willingness to work in a flexible, collaborative environment that values creativity and new ideas.
Responsibilities:
- Grant Management: Assist with the coordination and tracking of grant proposals, timelines, and reporting to ensure deadlines are met and all necessary information is submitted.
- Event Coordination: Support the coordination and distribution of museum events to schools, businesses, and other regional partners.
- Marketing & Sponsorships: Help market upcoming events, assist in securing sponsorships, and develop promotional materials.
- Social Media Engagement: Help schedule some posts and events.
- Email Marketing: Develop and execute email campaigns to promote events, exhibits, and fundraising opportunities.
- Community Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to ensure a broad reach for MDC programming.
- Website Maintenance: Help with backend edits and updates on MDCs website.

- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

- Part-time/Non-exempt position.
